Road to Sangam-Film review

Road to Sangam is a 2009 Bollywood Hindi film,  written and directed by Amit Rai is director and writer for the film. The leading roles played by actors from Bollywood actors Paresh Rawal, Om Puri and Pawan Malhotra. Amit Rai got the idea for the film when he read a story about the restoration of the truck that carried Mahatma Gandhi's ashes to the Sangam by a Muslim mechanic and also he came to know about Mahatma Gandhi's ashes being found in an Orissa bank locker. He has written a script with this idea. The film was shot on location in Allahabad. Tushar Gandhi, great grand son of Mahatma Gandhi appears in the film. Most of the other characters are non-actor residents of Allahaba. The film was released worldwide on 29 January 2010.
Road to Sangam is a short story of a God fearing Muslim mechanic named Hasmatullah (Paresh Rawal) who has been entrusted the job of repairing an old V8 ford engine, with out knowing the historic significance that it once carried the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi to immerse in the holy Triveni Sangam. Now the engine is required to recreate the journey with the ashes found in the locker of the Bank. He is caught in a dilemma after a powerful bomb explosion rocks his town which leads to the arrest of innocent Muslim youths. As a protest a strike to work is ordered by the Muslim leaders played by Om Puri and Pavan Mallhotra. To strike as per the Muslim leaders order or to work to honor Mahatma Gandhi who lived for the cause of Muslims to repair the engine. Thus begins his journey of Muslim Principles, Gandhian Principles and patriotism. A journey called "Road To Sangam".
